South African retailer House of Busby has deployed an RFID-based solution at one of its Johannesburg stores to increase inventory visibility and reduce time spent on inventory counts. The solution, provided by Milestone Integrated Systems, uses Keonn’s EPC ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID readers and AdvanCloud software to manage the captured read data.
Since the system was deployed, the store’s inventory count time has been reduced from 120 man-hours to 30 minutes. The retailer is also using the technology at the exit to confirm whether there are unpaid products leaving the store, eliminating the need to install additional hardware in the store as overhead readers can read tags at distances of several meters.
